Belfast born Kathryn Ferguson is a self-taught filmmaker. After graduating from the BA (Hons) Fashion Communication course at Central Saint Martins in 2005, Ferguson initially worked as a stylist before moving into film. Since her BA she has created short films for fashion designers and taken on various art commissions; three of these have been premiered at the ICA and shown at various International film festivals including OnedotZero, Birds Eye View Film festival, REELdance Film Festival in Sydney, A Shaded View on Fashion Film Festival, Cambridge Film Festival, and the 59th Berlinale.
Recent commissions have included films for fashion designers Katie Eary, Richard Nicoll, David David, Theatre de la Mode, Erika Trotzig, Domino Records, The British Fashion Council & Yoox,com and a film commissioned by Dazed Digital featuring Lady Gaga. Her films have been showcased on DazedDigital, SHOWstudio, BBC, MTV and featured in Vogue. She also works as a programmer for the Birds Eye View film festival at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, curating a strand of the yearly event which focuses on the developing genre of fashion film. Ferguson continues to work with the possibilities of this genre as well as furthering her music and art interests.
Kathryn is currently the UK Film Ambassador for Levi's online female initiative Shape What's to Come.
Kathryn completed a Masters from The Royal College of Art this year studying experimental film on the Communication Art & Design MA, and in June joined Blink Art and White Lodge (Blink Productions) for representation.

Kathryn has recently been working with The British Council after she was asked to curate a 'Best of UK Fashion Film' screening and a series of talks in Sarajevo in Bosnia & Herzogovina. Whilst there she also lead filmmaking workshops with local creatives and designers.
She invited filmmaker Elisha Smith - Leverock and Fashion Print Designer David Saunders of design label David David to take part in the talks and co-manage the filmmaking workshops. The British Council are planning on touring and expanding this project.

Curator and panel chair of The Birds Eye View Film Festival ' Fashion Loves Film' strand at The Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
The event takes place at the Institute of Contemporary Art and the British Film Institute each March and consists of a screening of fashion films by female directors followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers and Industry professionals. Past panelists have included Bella Freud, Ruth Hogben, Penny Martin, Jaime Perlman, Sarah Chatfield amongst others.
